Wonderwagon

Well the wonderwagon, didn't get finished, but another wagon went back to where I was 50 years ago. Yellowstone
I was 17 months old..so probably drooling all over and sitting in a loaded cloth diaper.
But growing up I was always fascinated with history including the landing on the moon.
My wife and I, along with our dog, were on a driving vacation with our 1969 Fury convertible. We were camping, with tent, coleman stove, gas lantern and sleeping bags. We liked the top down so everything except the dog was packed in the trunk. The dog had a short lead attached to an eyebolt on the floor giving him maximum freedom without allowing him to jump out.
That morning we were camped on Prince Edward Island somewhere around Anne of Green Gables.

... It was pitch dark, no light anywhere, so we listened to the NASA news while we lay on the hood of the Fury. It was a little surreal listening to the voices of the "spacemen" talking from the moon while it was hanging in a sea of stars over our heads.

I'll never forget that trip!
AM all the way, only my component HiFi had FM, but there weren't any stations yet in Kingston. Our TV was a steel cube with I think a 19" black and white crt. I wasn't until years later that we ever saw the old NASA pictures in color. Life was a lot simpler back then. Thanks for sharing, I think your memory just shows how amazing of a feat it really was. You probably were listening to it on an AM channel because FM was still rather new.
I was 12 years old and had just finished for the night the summer job I had with my older brother and his friend.
We headed over to the friend's parents mobile home where his friends Dad was sitting in a tee shirt and underwear drinking a beer and watching the landing on a 19 inch black and white TV.
I swear it still seems like it happened a week ago...
