got the motor and tranny back in this spring after their rebuilds and it has fought me ever since.

Ran fine at the start. But over time it got undriveable and super noisy. Turns out 9 of 16 rocker arm adjusters didn’t like the new pushrods and wore down to the nib. By the time we got that sorted and replacements found, I stripped a spark plug hole - or so I thought - reassembling. Went to fix the spark plug hole. Good thing i checked the threads on the plug. The plug was bad!

Now it is all reassembled. Adjusted. About 150 miles on it. Smooth as silk. Quiet as a Caddy. Rides remarkably well. Looking forward to Moparfest 2020!

Very nice detailing job. Just curious. The correct engine color on 60/61 318's is silver with a red air filter. I would have thought, at that level of restoration, The engine would have been silver.

I bought it from the original owner. He said it was the original motor and the sludge build up likely proved he was true!

It was red coming out, went red going back in! Didn’t think too much about it. Used a spray bomb of Krylon.

Looking back at the rebuild, the block could have been any color! Funny how the intake was clearly red. I even thought the bell housing was red but in this shot, it is not. I did reshoot the tranny in grey/silver. Oh well, wasn’t going for show points but next time i’ll Pay more attention.
