Few weeks back I purchased a 1970 FuryIII that sat off the road since 1988 off an older fella. I got it running that day and driving the next day. Come to find out the trans was spent (3rd) and reverse. Just got the car back from having a transmission rebuild. Here’s some pictures of my Yacht. Thanks Boots

I was originally going after an A body but the wife wasnt liking the dart/swingersdusters. I found this Fury and couldnt pass it up after the wife fell in love with it

If the wife gives it the thumbs up then that is the one you want to go for....makes the justification of "upgrades" a lot easier. :)

Thankfully shes all for it! I had a 1985 W250 we used to take to the car shows and went on cruises. After i sold that she was bummed that we didnt have anything to take. Now we can hit Mopar Nationals, Olcott beach car show and local shows again!

If that was a NY state car it musta been in a garage or barn for all these years. Looks like it's in nice shape. Congrats to you ,the car looks real nice. That was important to me too to have my wife want to ride in it. Smooth nice ride and a car that today is much more rare than a Duster or any of the other "cookie cutter cult car" rides. thanks for posting and welcome!!

:thumbsup::welcome::usflag:

PS Steelies with dog dish /poverty caps rule!!

Story time....

The older gentleman that I bought this from said back in 1978 him and his wife drove this car back from Florida after they bought it from the original owner. There’s multiple AAA stickers on the car and one is from Clearwater Florida. The gentleman’s wife drove this car during the summer only and they would take weekend trips to Canada in it. His father repainted (same color) it after she side swiped an object. He told me they parked it when his wife started to not like driving it as it was too big for her. Got parked in 1988 under a lean-too behind a garage in till 8-18-19 when I bought it. He claimed that the mileage is true 76,XXX.

So technically it was his wife’s car as it was in her name when I bought it.

And thank you for the warm welcome. I’m glad I found this place to gain some knowledge from y’all as time goes on.

When I went to go look at this fury the only thing I was told was “ 1970 fury 318 solid car” and I was surprised when I walked up to it seeing it was off the road for so long. But once I hooked my truck to it and gave the car some power everything worked and the engine wasn’t froze up. She spun freely and we pushed it up to the flat bed. The emergency brake still worked. Once I got it I started with the basics and a couple hrs later it fired up but wouldn’t idle more than 1 minute or so. Next day I tore the carb apart gave that a good cleaning(now rebuilt) changed out the fuel filter and the gas tank was bone dry when I got the car. Mixed up some marvel and gas and she stayed running. Next was the brakes. I had zero pedal at first but I had fluid. The master cylinder was plugged up and so was the passenger side brake hose. Once I cleaned everything the brakes started working. The drum shoes are stamped with Chrysler symbol and all the adjusters worked freely which blew my mind. I do have a growl in the rear (8.25) I changed out the rear wheel bearings and fluid but the noise didn’t go away. The transmission shop said my piñon bearing is making that noise. (Diff rebuild soon). She has a sloppy front end that I’ll be changing out along with the exhaust. I’m bringing this party barge back to life!!!

Welcome and what a great looking car! Just curious...what kind of mileage do you get with the 318? You should be able to find a good used 8 3/4 to put under that thing.
