It’s true I tell you......
I saw it on the net

Funniest thing I saw on this was a documentary on Netflix where "Flat Earther's" took a laser beam on top of a 20ft pole with the theory that if they had it level to the ground that they should be able to fire it for so & so miles(let's say 10) that it should hit a target 20ft in the air at the end.
Makes sense if the earth is truly flat.

They had to try a few times due to weather conditions but finally got a nice clear night to go ahead.

Well after the big build up of suspense, the final comment once it was fired was "CRAP!!! dead silence, the scene was cut to immediately cut to black & the documentary ended...
The beam path was well above the targeted pole...

Funniest dammed ending I had ever watched!

That is funny, but the sad thing is that they will make up some excuse on why it didn't happen and will keep saying what they've been saying.

I watched that. In another experiment, a flat-earther bought a very expensive gyroscope, sensitive enough to detect the rotation of the earth, if it is in fact a spinning globe. The flat-earther predicted it would show nothing. Well, it did detect the rotation, at exactly the predicted speed. So they came up with a theory that NASA was bombarding the earth with some kind of radiation which was affecting it :realcrazy: and they'd need to put the gyro in a metal box to shield it from the radiation. They tried that and it still showed the rotation. So they concluded that they need to make the box out of some prohibitively expensive metal and they'd need to raise funds to fabricate the box.

It was troubling to hear one flat-earther rambling on about how NASA knew they were wrong but they were too embarrassed to admit it, they didn't want to lose their high-profile jobs, and NASA was almost cult-like. Then he added that some people may say that about the flat-earthers, except the KNOW they are RIGHT about this!

Yah it’s mind boggling what they came up with for reasons to believe

I had a flat earther make me jump straight up. Then he ask. Did you land in the same spot ? Ofcourse I replied. He said that proves the earth is not rotating.......
I knew right then I was dealing with a nickempoop & politely left

In terms of the physics involved you landing site would be a few nano meters off from the start point. You would not land in exactly the same place but the distance is so small it would not be noticeable.

They have a problem relating to the very, very small, insignificant part of the universe they really are. Part of this could stem from the everyone is important, and everyone gets a trophy way of thinking.

Also, when you are standing there, you are traveling at the same speed as the earth's surface. There's no reason why you would suddenly slow down just because you stopped touching it momentarily.

You could have asked the flat-earther WHY you came back down at all, and why the atmosphere above the earth doesn't dissipate away into space. If we don't have the mass of the earth below our feet to cause a gravitational attraction, how does that work?

come on Mike! All these questions make way too much sense! LOL!
