I run this one, it also sucks. Sometimes it sticks on zero and needs a flick.

On my spray guns, the pressure gauge face gets cloudy from the lacquer thinner. Try using a little polishing and/or rubbing compound to restore some clarity to the lens until you replace it with a gauge with a glass lens. :)

I have heard a few say use a gauge to check the pressure then remove it and plug the hole. One less fire hazard.

Saylor, what did you end up using? I have found this simple, Metal/glass gauge to be the best I've used so far.

I have an Big Block Edelbrock pump that needed a fuel pump regulator. This gauge holds a steady psi reading even when hot, something the liquid gauges will NOT do. It's been on my car for almost a year now and I don't have any complaints.

thx guys. i didnt put one yet tbh - i bought a brass T to put it, and forgot the brass crush compression thingies, and so just have a hard line all they way up to teh carb right now then a 2" rubber attach bit piece and hose clamps.
i did scrum around in the garage and found a carter adapter thats the 5/16" inside and 11/32" outside or whatever size the interface of the carb nozzle is, so i can remove the rubber hose attachment bit and hard line it into the carb.

thanks for thinking about me tho :)

I thought they didn't need a regulator unless your using an electric one.
The high GPH pumps run about 9 psi without a regulator I had to run a regulator on my 03310 Holley because it would overcome my inlet valve on the secondaries after I went WOT. Holley recommends 7 Carter recommends 5 PSI. Edelbrock 6.5 psi this is straight from Edelbrock "First, verify, with a fuel pressure gauge that the pressure does not exceed 6.5 psi". I always run a fuel pressure regulator when running aftermarket fuel pumps and carbs.

Is there such a thing as a good fuel pressure regulator for a mechanical pump that doesn't require a return line??

This is what I currently run on my wagon. It has the Edelbrock big block fuel pump. It works well for me. I have it mounted on the frame near the core support and away from the engine heat. It has held steady PSI for 8 months so far
