Hi.

This car is pretty much exactly the same as my Fury will be (except the engine):

Is that firewall color the original or has it been painted?

Otherwise I guess the colors are correct, but I thought that the firewall
should be the same color as the body?

Then they wonder why they have a hard time selling the car...

A nuisance for sure but simple to cure... pull engine, repaint firewall, re-install engine, drive off. I don't like the painted pwr brk booster either.

Isn't it the engine side with body color and forward side black?
Yes. There is supposed to be black on the front side of the core support so the body color doesn't show through the grille. At the factory it was just kind of randomly sprayed so there is no exact measurements as to where it starts and stops.

Ok,

so we'll paint it thoroughly with body color and then black randomly on the front. And firewall with body color as well :)

Hi, still one question:

are these seat covers original or changed?

Thanks,

Beautiful car.....
True.... The firewall should be body color to be correct. I was able to completely refinish my firewall without removing the engine... but still needed to strip everything off.

Chrysler liked to paint the forward facing portion of the core support black for the reason mentioned above. It was never masked and just sprayed from fender to fender... so inconsistency and some overspray was the result....... ALSO note..... Not ALL got the core support blackout treatment. Many examples, (including my 300), can be found that never did get painted.

The seat covers are totally incorrect. Legendary offers the best reproductions for your car. I also noticed that your rear interior trim panels have been cut for speakers.... Tough fix.

The core support is correct, I'm suprised that the wheel lines have gone un noticed, should be black.
In working on my car recently I went through this and being a black car it wasn't easy. Good thing I also had a green car along with a red parts car. The reason was I didn't want to paint everything with body black when some parts were low gloss. The other cars were good reference to this.

I'm not so sure about that Alan. I think body color is correct for the wheel tubs, at least through 68.
Heres a shot of a 21K original 68 VIP.......
Also a shot of the core support in my 69 300 in it's original finish. Note the lack of the blackout.

We had a couple examples for these model years in body color. I think Will is right, possible though that they treated this differently in different plants as well.

Interesting, I'm still learning about these and have had limited exposure to c-bodies.
Here is my other 69 Polara...
