Was there a 26" radiator support ever?

FWIW, I once took a 383 4v A/C 26 inch radiator support and radiator out of a 68 polara and put it all in 67 fury conv 318 22in non A/C car. All fit perfect! Easy swap.

I have a rust free 70 26 radiator support and radiator available?
Not sure about interchange with earlier models?

HEY! Sorry, late to the party.

So, I have a Non-A/C 66' that I'm upgrading and driving as I go.

I have a parts donor 66, with A/C (it's why i bought the car for the AC dash to swap into my non-A/C car.

I needed a rebuilt Radiator. So I pulled the one from the A/C car and had it redone.

Figuring "I'll upgrade now and then have it ready when i swap in the vintage air set up."

I JUST today (the day before doing the job) noticed a post about 66' being a year when the larger A/C radiator support is different for the HD set up (Which is the Rad i have now restored with the plastic shroud.)

Can I modify what needs done on a 22" Rad support, to accept the 26" Radiator with or without the shroud?

It's factory year same year set up, but before i tear anything down, I'm very interested

Thank you!!!
What state are you in?

Mine is 68.
So far I have not seen a single picture of 26 in support on these cars for 68.

I swapped out my 22" for a 26 inch. 68 Newport.
I know that 65 and maybe 66 did not come with 26 inch but 67 and newer with towing package and/pr AC got 26 inch.

26" on a 66 was an option.
Yea, thats what I'm coming to find out. I have a donor car that i Bought for the A/C dash and some other parts. Turns out the car was pretty well-optioned before it sat in the woods for 40 years. (If it wasn't pretty cooked it would have been a nice resto. White/White on Red.

But my tri-color Powder blue is in in better shape and far more rare, so I'm restoring the blue car.

But the blue car has the 22" set up, and the red car has the HD A/C set up... and now it looks like i'll have to get the 22" Rad redone. (OR i'll have to tear down each front end to swap core supports.

This is what a 26" radiator looks like in a 22" opening. Battery tray forces the extra to the passenger side. And no, I didn't do this, it's how I got the car.

My brother did that on a 66-300 w/o AC, just had to drill one hole to make it happen. And NO, you don't need to cut out the opening for more airflow, the opening work fine as is with a 26" radiator. However my 66-300 with A/C and HD cooling came from the factory with the opening cut out for more flow. Good Luck
