I need to remove the male pin connector to fix a cut wire, can it just be pulled out? I'm trying to keep the carnage to a minimum.

Thanks.

They make a tool for that, I'll see if I can find a image in my collection.
Before getting the tool I'd just use a healthy pin or sewing needle to push the tangs back in.
With the right technique of push/pull and pin action they pop out but you may have to pull the tang back out if your reusing it.

hold on...

If what you have is these types of connectors:

This type of tool works a dandy,

Tool for removing the male pins of these molex power connectors.jpg

Thought I had a image of the tool I used to have as it was useful on my motorcycle connectors (tiny) but I can't seem to find it in the 3 tool folders I have but remember posting it up in the Harley FB group for a member.
I tried searching for a new image and this is the best I could come up with. Gud Gawd they got all kinds of new connectors and the key/tools for them. The size of you pin is dependent on the size of the tool you will need.
Good luck finding the size you need, luckily when I got my tools I was at a better than Radio Shack electrical supplier that had all the pin packs and all the tools (and they weren't Harley-Davidson expensive)

See the little tab on the side? That's what is holding the connector in.

A straightened paper clip pushed in from the open end to bend the tab down and a little wiggling and it will pull right out. Bend the tab back when you put it back together.

I have always had good luck with a paper clip, they have differant sizes for differant size connectors.

Geez... I never thought that would be a pin connector.

I have one of these, but I really like that tool. If I was doing more with that type of connector, I'd look for one.

I just purchased a cheap kit on e gouge, it should do the job. Thanks everyone.

He said "I need to remove the male pin connector" and if IRC that white type connector has the pins type not spade type. But it's nice to see that the x-ray vision of my old eyes is still working (I guess)
Really if your asking a question about something show the 'eff'in thing you are asking about in the picture.

heh

Hey! Are you expecting me to actually read all the details? That would go against the usual forum behavior of glancing at it and then posting whatever sounds good.

We're just lucky someone didn't say to replace the ballast resistor!

Welcome to the Third World where nobody GAF. (getting that way around here)

That spool up there reminds me of my war with Road Runner/Brighthouse where after the tech came I found half of a 1,000ft spool of RG 6 left under my porch... SWEET! I got the crimper and proper compression connectors and re-did the drop myself. job done.

Reminds me of the lazy tech that came out because there was a problem with the cable. They had already changed every cable, including the one to the pole before... except for one that fed into the house. I said "Maybe you should change that cable"... Nope... He started giving me a hard time.. but at the same time "warning" me if I got mad and started swearing, he's leave. That was good for a chuckle.

I finally shamed him into changing the cable by saying "Cut me a piece of cable and I'll change it myself" and then the topper "If you want, I'll show you how to pull the cable". Yep, that was the bad cable...

there is a nearly empty spool that the sorry bastard who ran the internet to my house from the pole out front just rolled into the woods. It's big enough, I can't move it. I tried to get someone to come back out and remove the damn thing to no avail. There was about 10 foot of cable left on it, so they said to hell with it and discarded it.
Lazy and disrespectful.

What about the thermostat?!?
