That was darn interesting. Certainly illustrates why auto unions were required, that plant by today's standards looks like it could be very dangerous.
The engine plant and the monster tools was really neat. I hadn't realized they built everything, unlike today where everything arrives "just in time".
Interesting also the comment about the odds of having two cars with the same specs on the line at the same time.
 
Thanks, for sharing the video. I watched it with my kids; 3, 6 and 7. They were fascinated by it. What I was most impressed with was the forging of the crankshaft. I had no idea how that was done.
 
That's the year I was born. All I can say is wow. We need diversity? White men, black men and women all happily working the lines. Dang, that is a revelation. That line moved at a pretty good pace too. Thanks a bunch for this thread. Well worth watching.

Smoking in the work space! I can't think of any place where smoking was banned other than maybe a munitions factory. They even had ash trays in doctor's offices. Different world back then.

I have seen the video. No smoking will be allowed in my'61 I do not want that odor on my new interior
 
I've watched this video several times,as well as the one about the 1960 unibody cars. I can post a link to that one of anyone here hasnt seen it.
