When opportunity knocks, what do you do?

Yes, like stop lifting anything over 50 lbs ..... use brain instead of brawn. Do not jump out of pickups anymore. Stop running anywhere. Reduce stress. Its just not that important. SMOKE ....? You lose.
Build your core muscles to take the pressure off of your spine. A strong core actually protects your spine, it’s as simple as that. I pancaked 3 discs, tore 2 of them about 12 years ago and did all I could to avoid surgery. Plenty of p.t. Along with spinal decompression therapy got me back on my feet. I bought an inversion table, keep fit, stay hydrated and that area of my back doesn’t “go out” on me ever in spite of lifting more than I should on a regular basis. The arthritis that set in is painful on pretty much a daily basis but I can live with that. I have nothing else but my body to rely on to make a living until I die and we all know you have to take care of your tools.

So this will be the final update on this topic I guess fellas.

I went for the interview but quickly on the ride home decided that I wasn't a good fit for that job. I could achieve what they wanted but my fear was that the stress and pressure would create a lack of motivation at home to do things. I respectfully declined.

So began the start of looking for a job....

This morning I was informed that I will be keeping my employment in the MTIS-Fleet vehicle maintenance garage here at CBC-TBC.

With that said, my old contract died today at 4:15, and my new one begins on Monday, but the union advised me to take a weeks leave as I have only taken 2 days off since I started. Apparently that's frowned upon...so I'm off next week and resume work on Dec. 4th.

I cleaned the shop and my desk up before I left.

I don't really see where either was an awful choice... I think you chose as I would have, but don't let that make you second guess the decision...

Sounds like you made the right decision, congratulations on your contract extension. There is something about having a more 9-5 job to give you the opportunity to pursue your own hobbies.

Being self employed there never seems to be the time during spring through fall for me to enjoy my hobbies, so that leaves just winter for me. It sounds like the other opportunity would have had similar commitment as being self-employed, and we want to see your progress on your projects. :)
