Prius issue

Back to Toyotas, my late partner and her then-husband bought a Toyota Corolla after reading Consumer Reports. It was a lemon. And I mean LEMON! Worse than the cheap knobs falling off the dashboard was the automatic transmission that lost all its forward gears. Can't imagine the ordeal of having to drive backwards on a rural highway. With two lanes. In the winter. Before cellphones were even invented! This was only a year or so after buying it new.

This was before lemon laws, strong consumer protection, and such. They abandoned that piece of **** in the dealer's parking lot (the dealership wasn't much help, either). Most of the cars she had after that were Chrysler products.
!

My Parents had a 77 Corolla 1200 5 speed that I pretty much tried to kill. I once jumped it over rail road tracks and got about 5 feet in the air before coming nose down hard with the rear end bouncing off the ground for some time, hardly like they do on tv. It blew out the shocks and scraped the muffler. I never stopped and went on to school with my AAR friend in the passenger seat screaming. Did donuts in it. The only thing that went, eventually, was the clutch. Later I would get a Toyota mini pickup. I hauled 1400 pounds of scrap steel in it with the mud flaps dragging. Very durable vehicles in my experience.

My only experience with Prius - I ended up with a Prius C as a rental. I drove it about 800 miles & averaged 50ish mpg at 80-85 mph. The tank only held ~6 gallons & had to stop numerous times because the low fuel light would come on when it got down to a couple gallons. It was a better car than I expected, but yes ugly.
