Why is it that most of the time a car being sold with pics usually has the "Trunk Shot" with the trunk mat still in place or cluttered with loose spares or rubbish, what are they hiding?

I’ve always said be wary of used cars with brand spanking new tires on them.
And if you call ahead to let them know you are comming to look at it & the engine is already warm when you get there

If you're really interested in the car ask for a shot of the trunk pan. Their response or lack of will tell you a lot.

And in the case of C bodies a pic of the back window, why do they always rust in this spot?
Vinyl tops. Poor sealant. Old brittle sealant. Someone had one too many on lunch at the Belvidere plant.

I was told they ran out of glass multiple times for the 4door hardtop models, the line never stopped. Lots of cars ended up going through the water test without side windows before going to repair. They didn't have a chance from day 1.

I live 20 minutes from belvidere assembly and when I meet someone older that worked there in the fuselage era. I ask as much as I can.

Trunk shots? Show the spare tire, jack, etc. A good place to display any service manuals, literature, and such that "go with the car". Many aren't thinking about what's under the mat, just as they wouldn't pull any floor mats out of the front of the car, either, especially if they were NOS or came with the car.

If the car had a rubber/vinyl trunk mat, I would suspect there's could be some rust in the beads in the trunk floor, where condensation can collect. Just as it can under the hard vinyl/rubber front floor mats of old. IF you desire pictures of particular areas, ask and "go from there".

MANY people aren't aware of the moisture-collection properties of those floor mats!

If you ever watch Graveyard Cars on Velocity, you can learn a lot about how the B bodies were built. Overspray paint was common. Sometimes screws were missing because the lines moved too fast. A “factory correct” restoration will have the same overspray or random missing things. If everything is “perfect” it’s a giveaway that it’s a imperfect restoration. Can really affect the price of the rarest models.

Lifting the mat for pictures is a bonus, feel lucky they even opened the trunk.
If I like what I see then i request more pictures and go from there.
