a lot are going to hate me for this but I've liked these cars for a long time in either 2 or 4 door. then this came up a couple weeks ago. it does have some cosmetic issues its not a perfect car but it is 44 years old. the 1st thing that is going one it is 4 new tires the ones on it were put on in the early 80's and it feels like it going down the road. they came today and hope to get them put on saturday.

Great, now you'll start a Lincoln picture thread. :poke:

Looks like a nice car, I prefer the two door model myself, and I like those colors.

No hate. Lincolns of the '70s were luxurious, nice riding cars. The Town coupe never had large production numbers compared to the 4 dr Town Car.
Enjoy your purchase.

Tell us more, year, 76-78? Looks like 38,000 original miles? My biggest question is... What's up with the grill? I've never seen a Continental of that era without the large "Rolls" style grill. I almost thought it was a Monarch.

Not a Lincoln expert, but I believe they added the upright Rolls style grill in '77 to the Town Car/Coupes because of the popularity of it on the Mark series. Lincoln used the Rolls style grille from '69 until '89. In '90 the grill was upright, but smaller and not like RR anymore.

Most of these cars had a C-6 transmission with the 460 engine. That was a very durable combination, albeit not a very economical one. I had a '78 LTD Landau that I drove to 300k. Got 9 mpg from day one till the day I got rid of it. Engine had a timing chain at 120k and nothing else done internally. Transmission was original and had never been apart except for filter changes. When gas got to $4.00 a gallon it no longer made any sense to drive it and I moved it on in favor of a Neon.

is a 1975 38000 mile car. 75-76 had these grilles 77-79 have the rolls type still nice cars 79 was the last of the big ones

Just terribly curious - that's not the car that came from Weirton WV, is it . . . ???

Bought one of these in 1977 for 1200.00. Color combo white w/ blue vinyl top and red interior. A 10 to 14 mpg gas hog. Had an incredibility smooth ride. Only negative the A/C was a pain in the *** to repair.

Hate?, no not at all. That car is gorgeous. I like the white with red color combo. I'll tell you all a "secret" about myself. I'm actually partial to Fords, my dad has one and my grandparents are Ford people.

I hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of it. Good looking Lincoln! I had a 76 Town Car once and the speedo never worked right.
