The idler arm I have is K7014. Which according to multiple sites is the correct idler arm for my car.

My issue is the new idler are doesn't fill the space between the two perches.

Is there another part number I should be using?

Is that a Moog brand idler arm? If it is they usually come with washers to take up the space.

Yes it's Moog. It came with one foam spacer/washer for the other end, grease fittings and a castle nut

Does the illustration show the washers, Moog parts always had detailed pictures with their parts. should have also come with a new bolt and nut. Maybe someone robbed the hardware from this part. Should also have 2 more foam washers for the pivot end.

Aside from the washers and such, it looks like the new one is shorter then the one being replaced. Stud center to hole center. Or am I not measuring via the supplied picture correctly?

Length is important as it must match the length of the pitman arm for the geometry to be correct, as I recall. Which would make the spacer/washers the least of the issues.

Researching on www.rockauto.com catalogs, all 65-73 C-body idler arms should be the same. B-bodys are different, as are earlier and later C-body items. Mevotech's listing shows a "length" of 8.69".

The Moog listing shows the needed "thin" and "thick" washers, flat washers, castle nut, grease fittings, etc. in the "info" picture. Also in the Installation Instructions", too.

Just some thoughts,

Calling Craig was my next move. I've had two orders from him. Great to work with. Just wanted to confirm something wasn't right.

Hello Furyus67,

welcome to the club :-(

I want to replace my worn out idler Arm (renewed 1,5 years !!!) for my Chrysler NYB 1976.
The first part i got (top of the picture) would fit, but the plastic part in the ball joint was damaged and crumble out. (bought via eba...)
The second part i got today (bottom of the picture) does not fit (bought at Rockauto) same problem at yours.
Both of them are listed on the box with K7073 !!

I ended up having to go with the Rare Parts brand to find the one that fit exact.
