Not a C but very bizarre...65 Coronet 383HP 3-speed for sale in PA
Anybody know how to decode the tag for engine and trans?
AB/61 = 383-4bbl
D/1 = column 3 speed
W1 = Coronet Deluxe model

white book shows about 30 shipped for sale in the US.

the car will probably wind up a S/S clone/tribute/mess

It might look even BETTER in the Survivors Tent at Mopar Nationals, when that event comes back next year.

Would it be allowed the that I move the shifter to the floor.
As in Day 2 "correct"?
10-20 years ago, I wouldn't have minded. I've always kinda liked the stuff that reduces the number of folks who can drive a car and today that "3 on the tree" is one of the highlights of this car for me.
I can't remember a time when I had three abreast up front.
And having your date sit next to you is a PITA whether it's on the column or on the floor. Drive now, ride later...
As a young man I had a crappy chevy P/U that had a aftermarket floor shift, installed by the prior owner when the shift bushings wore out.

When driving with your date next to you, 3rd gear got you a handful... I kinda liked it at the time

WHITEWALL snow tiress! Bet they're hankering for some snow, having been confined to that dry garage all of these years. Must have been "holding their breath" in defiance?

But, in many climates, it would be a "winter car" with no a/c.\

Enjoy!

2 door post? Oh yeah! 4 speed convert, dual quad tunnel ram, fender well headers, straight front axle, cut out rear wheel wheels with some Whitewall M&H slicks. JK!

That is an unusual car because of the drivetrain. So why does it seem that there are so many guys that want to take an unusual car like this and tear it up? Now if you found a car that needs a lot of work to begin with then go ahead an make the modifications you want. IMHO it's the Mopars like this that need to be preserved. If it was in my budget I'd be calling that guy 'cause I'd love the have that car, just the way it is!! Sorry for the rant!

I think you are reading the mockery as gospel.

My father in-law had a 65 426/4speed same color as this. We sold it 6 years ago. This one is in much nicer shape.

65 Coronets always bring back this memory.
Dad brings home a 65 Coronet 500 engineering test mule spring of 65.
Dark turquoise hdtp sleeper with blackwalls and the spinner wheelcovers.
Under the hood was an early 426 street hemi hooked to a 4spd. My two oldest brothers had their license and took it out for a spin. I could hear them exercising that thing half a mile away on Northwestern Highway. 55 years later we still talk about some of the rides Dad brought home. If he only knew!

I have a 61 Fury 361HP with a 3 tree. It's a chore drive especially in traffic or winding hills.
You really have to pay attention when driving.
Every once in awhile I think about putting in a floor shift.
It's kinda a novelty to have a 3 tree though.
I wouldn't change a thing on the coronet.

like it or not (liking it is irrelevant), I was serious about my comment. I do not believe the value would be hurt at all by putting in a 4spd. A 3spd is an undesirable option for 95% of the buyers out there. The audience that would pay up for the car is likely higher if it had a 4spd conversion done like it was oem already performed.
Some % of people think the 3 is 'nifty' enough they wouldn't go through the work to change it, and a tiny % of people would actively advocate for it. A couple of them are in this thread!
If I saw it at a car show as is my reaction would be 'Hmmmmm'
with a 4spd on the floor "oh yea".
