65 Fury Poor Drum Power Brakes

I chased a series of issues that led me to satisfactory power drums. When I first got our 66 Polara, my mechanic changed out the worn out brake drums and rear shoes and hardware. The car stopped great but slowly got worse until it became unsafe. Hard pedal and no lockup. The first issue ended up...

    Rear Brakes Won't Bleed

I couldn't get my rear brakes to bleed. Fluid would just dribble out. Replaced the rear brake line. Couldn't blow air through it so I cut it open....

Some tech advice on master cylinders.

As I prepare to convert Miz Ruby to a dual master cylinder, I discovered that the sealing ring casting had been broken. I procured a new rig off of E bay, noting that this piece is not easy to find. Also ordered were two Ford filters from West Coast Cougars. I had to double stack the filters...

    68 fury terrible brakes

I'm going through my brakes and converting to a dual master setup. While that's a bit different then yours, unhooking the booster revealed just how bad the brakes were. I started by trying to bleed and adjust the brakes. Bleeding revealed a restriction in the rears and I ended up replacing the...

Miz Ruby's brake booster woes, pt duex.

Ordered the casting off ebay. Seller was cool, said I could return without a restock if it didn't fit. It looks the same. Ordered the filters off West Coast classic Cougars. Lastly, bought an adjustable proportioning valve off from Jegs. Now I play the wait game...

Miz Ruby's brake booster woes, pt duex.

I need a filter but I need the casting mount more. Ebay has a couple but not sure it they'll fit. Are all Mopar filter housings the same?

Miz Ruby's brake booster woes, pt duex.

The bellows has a tear about an inch long where it meets and wraps around the housing. Source of vacuum leak found!

Miz Ruby's brake booster woes, pt duex.

So today I started changing out the defective booster. Had enough time to pull the master cylinder, and here's what I found. Based on the FSM illustrations, the filter housing was installed upside down on the booster. Who ever installed the master cylinder simply shoved the retaining screw...

    Brake lines...is there a difference?

Hello cbarge! Did you get your voltage reducer? ^^^^^ Those look like fuel tank vent lines to me. Nice job! And yes, I ordered OEM type armored lines from my local store. But If I could place a one piece OE replacement in there, that's two or three joints I don't have to worry about leaking...

    Brake lines...is there a difference?

1966 Dodge Polara Power drum brakes. Inline tube shows a rear line (from block to hose) for standard but no power (out of stock) drums. The photo on the listing looks pretty much like the one on my car. Is there really a difference? Even Mopar wouldn't do that! Or would they? I want to order...

    I Believe I have a booster/check valve issue.

Thanks @Turboomni and @Davea Lux ! I will be pulling the entire booster then.Time to update to a dual master cylinder as well! I didn't hear any hissing inside the car. It was all on the outside under the hood and quite loud, like not running an air cleaner at idle loud. My brake light switch...

    I Believe I have a booster/check valve issue.

I think I found the problem... I could hear a hiss around the vacuum booster after driving the car. So I sprayed around the booster with carb cleaner and got a hit when I sprayed around the gasket between the booster and the master cylinder. The FSM shows some kind of spacer/retainer with a...

    I Believe I have a booster/check valve issue.

Once again, our '66 Polara convertible seems to have an issue. The brake pedal is very hard. And I can step on it until I feel I could bend it but I can't lock the brakes up. Pumping doesn't help, so I don't believe there's air in the lines. Everything seems adjusted correctly. Is there a way...
