    Orange plug wires.

Mine came from Lectric. I have a 400 with points. They are black wires with a date of 1972 on them. I saw your first post asking me, i didn't mean to take so long to reply.

    Factory Radio Wiring Question

That schematic helps a lot, thank you. My car has two speakers. One dash, and one rear. It looks like the best option is to wire each speaker as an individual channel. Green to front, and violet to rear as you said. I read about wiring both channels together with a resistor between them, but...

    Factory Radio Wiring Question

Like many of us, my 1972 Newport has an AM only mono radio. It also has the fader and rear speaker. I recently picked up a factory AM/FM radio. The problem is, the output wires are stereo. Is there a way to wire it into the original setup without frying anything?

    Evans wiring Engine Wiring Harness

The quality really is fantastic. They custom made harnesses for my 72 Newport. Engine/battery/lights/bulkhead/ac. Cost a pretty penny, but they are perfectly done with care. I sent him photos of my harnesses, and he gave me a quote. I cleaned and mailed him mine. He then mailed back both new and...

Tar leaking out of voltage regulator

I was taking out my wiring harness to have it replicated, and noticed this. Sticky tar originating at the voltage regulator dripped all the way onto the transmission bell housing and trails back. Anyone ever seen this before?

    Ignition coil polarity

Thanks to y'all for the help. I went back and did a close inspection of the wires. Yes the one is blue and just dirty. Based on the out of roundness of the holes, I believe someone drilled them out to make them round holes. (If it works, fine by me.) I got it hooked up correctly. She's runnin...

    Ignition coil polarity

Yes with points. Both wires are black. One comes from the direction of the firewall, and one comes from the points. On this coil the wires can be put on either side? I don't get what you mean by they can only go one way. One side of the coil is marked with + and one side with -

    Ignition coil polarity

1972 Chrysler Newport. I made the dumb-head mistake of taking out the ignition coil without looking at witch wire went where. Based on the curvature of the wires, it looks like the + side went to the distributor, and the - side to the firewall. Is this correct?

    sputtering/ coughing after replacing points

Do you know how old they are? Capacitors dry out inside over time. Anything after 40-50 years is a gift.

    sputtering/ coughing after replacing points

I sure will, I have seen many people having trouble with them. It was Carquest from Advance Auto Parts. I knew it was an electrical problem because I could smell gas. I'm glad I found out what it was before I started buying stuff that didn't need replaced.

    sputtering/ coughing after replacing points

Success! I read part of that ignition book from Stubs300, and various points ignition posts. Just to eliminate faulty parts, i swapped out my new parts with old. It was the brand new condenser. What a waste. Thank you all for the help.

    sputtering/ coughing after replacing points

I visually checked all vacuum hoses, and pinched off each one. I am confident it is not a vacuum issue.

    sputtering/ coughing after replacing points

I replaced cap and rotor. I just checked all vacuum lines again. I have also replaced most of the vacuum lines.

    sputtering/ coughing after replacing points

1972 newport, was running really smooth, but I was having trouble with misfire on startup. I replaced the points and the misfire is gone. Gapped to .017 and timing is correct. However now the engine kind of "Surges" It speeds up and slows down small amounts on idle, and about once a minute...

DavidHill Do these look correct to you?

I have them already, but i cannot get the car to go anywhere. If i install points, condenser and do a basic gapping, will that be ok enough to make it to where you are? What day is best for you?
