Just bringing this to light over here. Someone is probably looking for their motor.

1970 440 shortblock

I snagged a 1970 shortblock that has been sitting along time. It is STD bore, block/crank/pistons all together. I very gently tried rolling it over and it is not moving but I doubt it would take much to free it up. The casting is 2536430 and the build date is Jan 1970 The pad only says F440...

That short block is intended to clone a 318 car into a 440 car.
It is *not* intended to be returned to a C-body (if that's what it came from).

I like this guy very authoritatively stating something incorrect.
If it's a 70 HP, then it is steel-crank,but is externally-balanced due to teh heavy 1970-71 6-pack rods. Has a weighted balancer specific to the 70-71 440 E86/E87, I'm 99% sure it is different than cast-crank 440 balancers.
