1968 plymouth fury III PX23G8D243539 project

my plan of attack at this moment is:
tape off everything
por15 paint everything
then wait about 3 hours
then
por15 seam seal the seams
por15 bondo the holes
fiberglass mesh + por15 + por15 bondo to recreate the front roof line
then let that set up
then
3m window weld the front + back windows back in

another day in the future will be pull the interior roof liner and por15 the inside.

read on the can today that por15 is not UV stable,, so that sort of changed plans...
got up early this morning and started in on it

while I was doing that my good wife was applying por15 goop to the side seams

the por 15 goop is great stuff. if you have anything that needs goop, get some.

so then we took a bunch of por15 putty and filled in a ton of rust holes with putty and goop

so that iron is holding down a spot where old rivets broke and the sheet was at a sharp angle... 20lb iron from god knows how old.

it effing fother mucking cork riding son fa biotch fell off there, some rain came thru and I had the tent low, and the tent hit the iron. and the iron fell off. fml.

it didn't get a window, but it got my driver door. good thing this isn't a new car id be pissed. it put a large dent in the car, and a large dent in my driveway.

im sooo pissed at that iron.

anyways so por15 is not UV resistant, so this isn't gonna work as a top layer. but I has to seam up the seams and fix the front with something.

if it quits raining, tomorrow I will sand this up rough and then bedliner is going down.

after this experience, i can guarantee 2 things for sure:

1.) this roof will NEVER leak again. ever.

2.) this roof is UGLY.

the truckbed coating is like rubber stuff, not like paint or por15. I had no idea. I started out early this morning, and the stuff skinned up almost before I could apply it. minimum temp 68*. sigh.

on a hotter day, with a different roller, ill put more goop on it and try to get a smooth coat. I had a foam 4in roller and they would start tearing up after half a roof.

couple of packs of sanding discs later . . .

Wow..! And THAT was not visible underneith the vinyltop? :wtf:

I'm sorry for you! Good luck with your project!

No intention of replacing the whole top with a donor and do it "right"?
