I think I can speak for more than a few people here that when you love, buy, and drive a certain year classic car, you are doing so to
CAPTURE that era and preserve it
I'm not trying to "CAPTURE" an era at all. That's ridiculous. The past is the past. It is gone.....FOREVER. No item that you try to cling to hoping to fend off the future, will bring the past back. It's just not happening.
So all of us out there who try to restore a Victory ship, a Vietnam gunboat, a WWII historic aircraft carrier or battleship are simply wasting our time as that is in the past and it is over.
Really sounds like the appreciation of history and all that it entails has passed right over your head. A shame as I got to listen to a talk by a sailor/author from CV-8 and was on the flight deck during the Doolittle launch.
