1978 NYB Preservation Project....Sort of

Yes Sir. I can't wait to get her back.

Dang......it's going to take 5 weeks to get the new vinyl top,

I was really worried that he was going to tell me that it was too far gone and couldn't be repaired.

Everything is fixable if you are willing to spend the time, and/or money on it. This car deff deserves it! Specially after all time, and money you've already put into her.

The quarters on these cars arn't too bad of an area to repair. The only spot that made me nervous were the dog legs. Gotta get them spot on to work right, withthe quarter, and rear doors.

I would imagine that's probably good timing... sheet metal and paint work will still take a while and you want it painted/cured before it goes on. I too was afraid it would be worse... just in time IMO.

So what's getting painted on it, everything to the rear of the front clip?

He'll be done with bodywork and paint in the next week so that'll leave a month before the new vinyl arrives.

I don't know exactly....he's going to evaluate and come up with a game plan based on condition and what it needs after all the repairs. This is getting costly but worth it. The NYB will last until I croak and still be a decent DD for the next guy....maybe my nephew.

Not to sound like a candy ***....but I had trouble sleeping last night with all that has happened with the NYB in last 24 hours.

Zac, I almost fell down when I saw how much of the rear quarters had to come out of the NYB.

I have a set of roof rail seals somewhere....got to find them today! Not new ones but a lot better than the ones on the car.
