It is only .020 bigger Bob, 4.34 compared to 4.32 for the 440. The beauty of a 400 is short deck height which means shorter/lighter pistons hence lighter rotating assembly and still having a bigger bore and thicker main webs. All is moot when you consider that a aftermarket block is 3500 and with right crank will yield 572 cid.
