What's the story with the front bumper rubber bump stop? Some cars have it, others don't. Was it an option or mid-year production change? Thx

And on a completely different note, I did the roof as well. lol

I believe it was an option, possibly only on 300's. You don't see them on many cars, 1970's had them too. Not sure about '71. My '71 New Yorker has a full width rubber strip on both bumpers, which I've only ever seen on a few other cars. Then there are the huge bumper protectors that were optional on '71 Newport Royals. Those are really rare.

Can you show a pic of a royal with one?

They were an option on 70 300's. Single front horizontal bumper guard, dual vertical either side of rear number plate. M85 Option code on build sheet.

Nothing on the rear bumper. Build Sheet shows Bumper Guards 8- with a 1 in the box.

The bumper guard started out as option on early 69 300's and quickly moved to standard equipment when Chrysler corporate recognized its benefits in fewer grill damage warranty claims.

Not just on 300s, the bumper guard was also available for Newport, New Yorker and Town & Country. My 1969 New Yorker 4dr HT has one from the factory.
