73 Monaco wagon

I should mention I’ll wash after sanding. Usually I add baking soda since I used naval jelly.

Panels painted.

3rd row ashtray. Pitted but at least shiny now. Stuff I hadn’t noticed before now that other stuff is done!

Putting some carpet in third row footwell. I hadn’t noticed it had it (from the factory) up against the rear vertical panel/bulkhead. I probably noticed it when I ripped out the old carpet in 2017. But forgot until now. There were four screws on the panel. They had carpet fuzz on them. Telltale sign! I lined up the screw holes in the sheet metal and the carpet by sight, with a pick, it worked surprisingly well.

Plan to add/finish the footwell floor carpet soon. That part has to be cut to fit. I’ll probably put the floor carpet down with some glue when I get to that point.

Cleaned up the screws, they had some surface rust.

Cut the footwell carpet to fit. It’s a little rough. Decided against gluing. “Good enough” for now. Happy with the overall look. (And I’m tired of this project.)

Anybody have a good lead on new/replacement door window channel? I’d like a part number. I’ve called places like Metro Moulded, but they usually expect the customer to ID which trim (part number) fits.

Looks great! Congratulations about all your Monaco. I know well that one day you have enough from a project. -So... drive and drive and enjoy it.

Beautifully done, the woodgrain makes me smile. It’s inspiring to see another one on the road in this world. There is more than one unicorn!!!

I wish the Atlantic Ocean was no obstacle for driving. Maybe have an international C-Bodies “Mopar Atlantic Meetup” in Greenland, or the Azores!

(Just plan stops carefully for gasoline)

Today I took the fuel pump off to check the pump rod. I think it looks ok. I actually like the looks of the one I took out better than the one I got as a spare. I don’t see any height difference. So I put it back in. How many miles do these typically last before needing replacement?

Probably really hard to say because I bet a new one won't last as long. My '66 300 had 64,000 plus when I had issues, and I imagine it was the original. When they go they get bad fast. They are hardened but once that layer wears through the steel will wear very quickly.

Where does the wear occur? Ends?

The one I took out is on the right, in the photo. The replacement I decided not to put in is on the left. It doesn’t look nearly as good.
