Seriously, I shudder when I see people resorting to those things. Do it right,

Elephant ears is the right way. Only drawback is weight ends up mounting further forward by 3"

The SRT4 was a sidewinder while the Colt was an inline.
That complicates things.

This was mine after 2 new fenders and a Maaco "Presidential" paint job. They did a good job back in 1980.
I think it was a 74 also, and the 2.0 5 spd was a lot more fun to drive than a Pinto or Corolla.
