Since completing the major service in February of last year, I always thought the top hose I had the boys put in looked to be too close to the idle/tension wheel. The hose had a few cut marks, a cut where the pulley got into it and evidence of “shortening”.

Well I was right... just installed a Dayco 70539 hose correct for a 78 and it now has clearance to beat the band.

And yes.... I am an anal SOB.

lots of clearance now but went ahead and recycled the hose cover from the previous hose.

This is the deep cut by the radiator end that had me bugged.

one of the boys must have thought it was too long and “trimmed” it leading to...

Bad scuff/cut where the pulley got to it.

Future catastrophe now averted.

Common sense is the good kind of anal, nothing wrong with that.
