Hi guys,
I am wanting to buy an original air cleaner assembly for my 1959 Dodge Custom Royal coupe, it is a factory power pack 4 barrel engine with Carter AFB carcurettor
I believe other 57 to 61 Mopars used the same style assembly.
See picture for reference.
Let me know what you have available.
Thanks
Gavin.

Hi, Thanks for reaching out, i will check carb opening size, your one looks to have been cut on the snorkel piece ?
Could you send a picture of the snorkel showing condition.
Thanks Gavin.

Howdy. Here you go, it does look like someone cut it. Someone needed clearance for something.

I have one like the pic in #2. It also came off of a 413 engine. It will fit your power pack 4 bbl engine but they are a little different from the 57-61 air cleaners. This one has a removable top and uses a 10" filter as does the one you show for reference. However, I believe the correct Air cleaner for your car is more like the Red one that is on my 60 Dart 318 engine. It uses the same 10" filter and fits the 4 BBL carb but has a full lid instead of the smaller lid on the 63 413 unit I have. The other difference is the snorkel is straight on the red one and is running down on the newer style. I won't sell the red one from my 60 Dart but I would sell the gold colored one if you could use it. Here are some pics of the two and their differences.

Howdy Is my gold air cleaner with a cut snout a 63, the engine is at the machine shop so I can't verify the numbers. Also unknown if this is original to my engine. Let me know. Thank you Bob

Bob, I believe the 62 and 63 413 engines used the same air cleaner. (maybe others too) Yours very well could be original to your car. I only know for sure, the one I have came off of a 63 Dodge 413 engine. Not sure what happened to your snorkel. Maybe someone added a hose or tubing from the core support to allow cooler air than the hot air under the hood.

Howdy Thank you for your response. I do like the cold air theory as I've done that myself. I just got a motor and transmission and parts in boxes, one of those parts was a huge alternator, maybe that's why the snout was clipped. I won't be using that air cleaner as the engine will have two Edelbrock carbs on it.

Howdy All
Well well well when it rains it pours. Looking for a bracket and what did I find a 413 air cleaner assembly from a 64 300. I noticed that the 10" lid on the gold one has rings around the edge and the black one doesn't. And the snout on the black one angles down. Here are some photos. Also both are for available.

Howdy I hope that you and yours had a wonderful weekend. Can you use either one of my air cleaners. Let me know when you get a moment.
Thank you
Bob
