Was thinking about building a center console for my NYB. That way I can leave the stock 8 track player and have a CD player . Has anyone built one and if so any pics?

I thought about it early on but you lose the glove box.

It could be done, you just have to be sure the forwardmost portion is low enough to clear an open box. I'm thinking about building something for my '76 RMB that could be removed without ruining anything. Basically storage space, maybe some 12v power, and...

...cupholders!

I don't want to add the part that homemade consoles look like crap.
I'll walk up to a drop-dead gorgeous car, carefully lean in to look at the gleaming interior and.... there's the vinal wrapped plywood.

The real science is to make it 1970's tacky, not new tacky.

I was just wondering how Long it will take till you come up again with that red velvet monstrosity of yours.

And the damned things only ever seemed to be available in red... :(

Here's some bad internet ideas

OK, so actually the taped up cardboard is the best way to make a pattern.

Whatever you do, padding the bottom so it doesn't tear up your seats is critical.

I did buy a $30 amazon little one that I can toss in the trunk and I don't hate it.

Not for a Mopar but my late Brother-in-law built this one for his '71 Camaro:

He made the new sign in the old "Fasten Seal Belts" warning light. Ha! Dash insert was a kit.

His neighbor was so impressed he paid Ron to make one for his '59 Ford. Here it is under construction.

This all started when Ron suggested I get a kit for the dash of the gremlin like he did for the Camaro. When I told him no one made one, and he looked to be sure, he said he wanted to make one for my Son. Here it is. Ron was a Contractor by trade; he did custom interiors in homes. Did great work!
