Good Day All
Made another round to Carlisle with the '65 Newport. Had some minor issues along the way, 1) The starter relay died. It would work if you waited about 20 minutes. 2+3) I pulled into a Turnpike rest area to 'walk the dog'. Came out, fired up the Chrysler and the oil light stays on along with a non-functioning speedometer. I have a manual oil pressure gauge which shows 60#. Unplug the sender, light still on. i am assuming that SOMETHING is grounding out the light. I added a latter model cruise set up, so I removed the upper cable from the casing and both ends are 'chewed up'. The good news is that the overheating issue from last year has been resolved. Never broke 200* sitting in traffic. I did shut off the A/C however,
My question is: Are there recommendations for speedometer repair shops? Looks like I have a winter project, whether I want one or not.
Thanks to all who respond.

Hey Rich / Omni ,
Too much aggravation for a Great guy.... You must have been on pins and needles driving home...
Glad that you are home , safe and sound... certainly easier to address the situations at home than on the side of the road....
Best to you , Craig....

What type of later model cruise set-up did you install? Speedo cable end issues at the transducer?

Sorry that you had issues with your trip,

Late 70's style.
Further investigation shows that the cable is apparently about 3/16 short. Perchance would you know what end of the cable has the stop collar?
Still diagnosing the glowing oil light. With the bulk head fitting disconnected, it still glows.
I am assuming that the sender grounds the light. So, with the sender unhooked and the light still glows, I have an errant ground somewhere between the cluster and the bulkhead connector.

Craig,
I have a mechanical oil pressure gauge so it wasn't to bad, Just unnerving driving 75+ with a oil light on.
The relay I purchased from you did the trick. Replaced that at Carlisle Barracks the same day I purchased it.
With GPS I just run the car up to speed, set the cruise and all is well. The speedo issue appears to be the cable (tad short). The speedo still works. I inserted a longer cable and spun it with a drill.

You have an oil pressure gauge, that malfunctioning light? Should be nothing unnerving about it.

I believe the stop collar should be on the transducer side, for the lower cable, and at the speedo head for the upper cable?

Good Evening
Maybe you are not bothered by red warning lights, but they they unnerve/aggravate me.
I may have solved the issue by replacing the bulkhead terminal on the dash side. Preliminary tests so far have the light turning off like it is suppose to once the engine starts. Won't know for sure until it runs for a couple of hours.
