Changing the subject- cheap toolset at Harbor Freight

This looks like a nice set too, I have a coupon for it somewhere.

Those ratchets are dead ringers for the old Snap-On design.

Harbor Freight does have its good points. i bought a cheapo paint sprayer there, the first one quit after a half day of use i had to clean it between every refill. which was every 3'by 4' foot area. The replacement one I shot after it failed. I ended up borrowing a professional sprayer big difference.

Harbor Freight sells a variety of stuff.

In the past, quality was suspect for many things.

Over the years, they seem to have upped their quality to the level that they offer good value on many things now. It may shock some, but I see good stuff at Wal-mart and Northern Tool, too. I think Average HF stuff is that good.

If your opinion on everything sold at HF is clouded by a bad experience in the past, fine. I know they’ve sold real crap in past years.

My experience is I have a lot of stuff that I’ve bought there hasn’t broken (yet although I expected it would) and I am still using it. Maybe I don’t use it hard or often enough?

So, am I saying that everything they sell Is equal to Snap-on, Mac, Klein, etc?
Of course not and I’ve never claimed that.

But a lot of what I’ve bought in the last few years is OK, a lot cheaper than the best brands and it works for me.

I've looked at ratcheting wrenches, Craftsman and Gear wrench. Both are imported, (and, not sure, but they may be the same with different names), anyone have experience with either type?

Sears sold Craftsman to Stanley Black and Decker a few years ago. They make many different products and brands including MAC Tools.

I knew that Stanley bought the Craftsman brand but are the new Craftsman products any good now? From my experience, Craftsman 10 years ago was absolute crap.

I have a set of 3/8" HF impact sockets I bought 25 years ago just to work on my motorcycles. I have carried them all over the country. If I lose them I'm not out much. They still fit well and have a lifetime guarantee.
My Craftsman 3/8 ratchets all need rebuilding.
