well guys n gals , its a stock chassi 1970 d300 383 4spd dana 70 4.10's 10,000 gvw . have not weight it yet . ruff guess 5,000 lbs carb weight . that puts 5000 lbs on it before its over loaded , i think that 3/4 fits the bill . and if you could you would do a roll back over a ramp truck , its a ramp truck that lays flat . it would need with a 12 valve n 5 or 6 srd in it . maybe later . i've still have my 69 d200 crewcab n a 71 d400 , put these three together , and d400 crewcab roll back . thats the best of all , and a turbo'd 12 valve or a cat . would that be , that n the other !
Rollback has a bed that raises a bit, hinged at the rear, and then slides rearward down to the ground. Hydraulic cylinders.
Ramp truck has slope built into the deck and loose/hinged ramps to hit the ground. No hydraulic cylinders.
Both have winches at the front of the bed.

What's the configuration of a '70 383 in a heavy truck like that?
What is the CR, did it have short pistons and regular 1970 stuff afterward, or ???
Diesel conversions are cool and all, but seems like an OD trans and some 383 tweaking could pick up a few MPG and close the gap on an expensive diesel's mileage?
just a 383 truck or pickup , two bbl carb 9 to 1 cr , center dump exhaust rams , steering clearance . its got a eddy performer on it with a afb , runs well . 413 would have been the next step . or even a 426 hemi . could have been had . well if you were somebody when buying it new . thinking lp conversion and raise the cr abit . with 4.10's and these short tires , it revs abit . helps out on the short stroke . it could be make into a 431 with pistons and a 440 crank . it would look just like a 383 . like my engine in my orange 64 , lil 383 hipo power up to 5500 rpm , idles at 800 rpm .
