Finally my own '70 Sport Fury GT

Genuine Sport Fury GT tips are about impossible to find these days. The 300 Hurst guys suck as it seems they bought up all the tips over the last 50 years even though they technically arent correct for those cars lol :mob:

Next time I see a Hurst with those tips I'll have to con the owner into selling them :poke:
I am a little strung out on Hurst 300s. I honestly rather see a GT fury restored properly.

Well, I wouldn't go that far. Chrysler original documentation shows that they intended the Hurst to have them...looks like they intended to have a special notched valence too.

I've heard that the Hurst cars were originally delivered with tips in the trunk. Don't know if that's a wive's tale or not.

Not to argue but until a 300 Hurst broadcast sheet turns up with the N42 box checked off, I'll contine to say none of the regular production cars had the GT tips (although they do look good on them). They would have been installed on the assembly line had the car came with them as they also required a unique pair of GT tail pipes to accommodate the tips.

While on the subject of tips, does anyone know if California ordered GTs came through with the tips or in typical California mopar fashion got the noise reduction turn-downs?

While putting the front accessory drive back on I was pleasantly surprised to find the car still retained its original assembly line alternator after all these years.

Assembled 6th week of '70, just before the car was built.

Even still has faint traces of the orange paint inspection mark still on it.

This alternator has a bearing on its way out so on the self it goes till I can rebuild it with correct parts.

Surprised to see a Chrysler water pump on the car. Turns out it was an old 10 blade unit.

Since the car didnt have A/C it didnt get the heavy duty cooling package. Direct drive 7 blade fan.

Still has the part number and direction stamps on it.

Where did you find this Charles? I ask because we are in need of one
A lot of searching on the web I was able to find a retailer of NOS parts. This was the only '70-'73 bottle they had.

Nigel at National Moparts has a few of the old reproduction bottles listed on his website too.

New reproduction aircleaner stud with the proper thread length & throttle return spring.

Got the engine button up. Runs real smooth & quite now. Took a trip around the neighborhood.

Anddd back out the radiator comes after going on the drive around the block. The original radiator was well overdue for a new core..

Also after long backorder wait finally received a new prebent AVS carb fuel line. Also got a set of Inline Tube brake lines to replace what was there.

Moved the GT over to the other bay in the garage to start really hammering down on the car. Carlisle is fast approaching and I want it ready for then! Gonna be alot of photo dumping from here on out.

Steve attacking the roof and doing a quicky so that it'll look presentable & water proof compared to the brown primer & rust disaster it currently is.

It made no sense trying to put a vinyl roof back on until the roof can be properly repaired/replaced I decided the next best alternative for making the car presentable from 20ft away would be to do a V02 two tone painted roof with some TX9 black. This was the best option take in my opinion while trying to keep it visually close to what it was originally with the limited amount of time I have to work with.
