If anyone needs a vehicle located, please PM me the VIN. The only hits will be on vehicles titled or registered since the state has computerized.I am not looking to make money, if there is positive information,I just request a small donation. I will discuss anything further on a case by case basis in a PM.

Would you be able to find previous owners and the like?

Would you be able to find previous owners and the like?
Yes. I contact them on your behalf to see if they would be open to discuss vehicle history. They are usually open to it and like reminiscing, seeing what the car looks like etc. The problem with old cars, is that the records are only digitally catalogued back so far in most states. If they owned it from new, until whatever date the state they are in, then it works.

Only if you wanted to use the information maliciously.
And how would you be able to control that?

DMV's are usually very protective of their data, and most states put heavy restrictions on what type of info they will release. I know of one system that requires a large licensing fee, but still only delivers limited info for strict research purposes. Unless, of course, you are in law enforcement in which case quite foolish to advertise this service here on public forum for "a small donation".

And how would you be able to control that?

Really quite simple, if you are looking for a car you owned.....you owned it!!!!!!
If you say to me, you are looking for a car you owned for the purpose of buying it back, that is a legitimate reason.

Yea, no I'm not asking or looking for your approval . I can and have helped people here, and on other forums. I offer to help people because people help me.

It isn't free to do, I will only ask for donations for the costs to be covered.
Now if I am free to go now, I don't like making **** shows where I hang out.

Alot of states Dept of Transportation will offer to sell plate info for a fee.

Yes some states, i am told, will release info, some won't. I think they are getting tighter and tighter., plate info does not really help, you need a VIN based search that covers past owners.

Right, you are free to do whatever you want, but I see nothing in the Drivers Privacy Protection Act that allows the sale of registration data by a third party without consent. I was just passing along some info that I'm familiar with because I thought you might not want to advertise like that on a public forum. But if the **** fits, wear it.

What does skidded mean?

They called him on his don't want money but expects donations BS line. Locked the thread.

Skidded was a term in the oil patch that meant getting fired, sent home or just sent with the invitation either express or implied, to never return.

I don't think I ever got skidded from moparts but I sure never felt welcomed there, terrible place to hang out imo.

I'm not sorry for trying to help. On Moparts I posted in general ,when I should have posted in services because I asked for a donation.

Donation BS? It takes $5-$20 to find the history, get contact info for the current owner, contact them, see if they want to speak to you.
If I said free, there would be insincere people taking up my time.

If this come across as a cheesy attempt to try and bilk people out of money, it is/was not. I have put a handful of people in contact with current owners of their past cars, every time the current owner, even if not interested in selling, was very happy to speak to a past owner about his car. I was happy to be a part of that.

I am thankful to everyone on this board for helping me get my junk back together, I merely have the means to help, and was trying to help others. There is nothing illegal or underhanded about what I do.

I'm going to bow out of this thread now, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I'd rather give you a donation than pay for the same info availabe from the thousand grossly overpriced sites on the internet.
MOPARTS SUCKS because everybody proclaim themselves as The Guardian Angels of all things moral.
Ask over there about buying a replacement VIN plate. :mob: Assholes.

The VIN on my car hauler is in a PM to you. No ****, I'm curious to see if this will work. The hauler is on the NCIC hot sheet, but then, that doesn't always mean anything, either.
