Kid with ballcap
I'm sure anyone that follows the Fuselage cars will remember this vehicle.
70 Monaco 500. Dealer promo car built 8/4/69. It was loaded with all the bells and whistles and a very solid car until it fell into the wrong hands. It was disassembled for "paint and body" and then abandoned and parted out due to rust...Apparently rust has a different meaning on the west coast compared to here in the midwest. The car is very VERY solid with minimal rot.
I happened to get the vehicle with intentions of making it a donor for my Brougham...and then it showed up after 2 months of waiting for my slow facebook transport guy. I just can't justify cutting it up. It's too solid. So I bought a donor for the donor...
The Donor is a 71 Monaco 2 door I found on demolition derby page on Facebook thanks to Tobias. It has a pretty nice black buckets/buddy seat interior. I will be using some of it in my 71 Monaco, but a majority will be going into the FK5 car. I have A LOT of spare 71 stuff...so more then likely the car will end up with a 71 Polara interior, grille and taillights. I have leads on some 70 parts, but at this point the original car is long gone and I have a blank canvas, so why not just use stuff I already have?
The 71 Donor has a 72 440/727 that runs well and moves. That's always a good starting point. I have most of the parts needed to make it a buckets console car again. As far as options goes, it will be very minimal. I just want a bare bones 440 buckets/console car in an excellent color. Over the course of the summer I will be transferring everything over from the donor onto the FK5. Hopefully by fall I will have something that resembles a car if I dont get distracted.
This is the first time I've had an solid empty 2 door shell and a completely rotten, but complete 2 door donor. I plan to put the cars side by side, pull parts from the 71 donor and install them immediately onto the FK5 shell.
The Brougham is on the back burner for now unfortunately. Still hunting for my package tray.
Heres some pics of the car as I got it. As you can see. I've already put a deck lid, bumper and hood on it.
