Fuel pump gasket

i just put a new fuel pump and pump cam shaft in my 440 and used a phelonic gasket, all went on good but then after thought that the phelonic gasket is bout 3mm will that push the pump out to much for the cam to work it properly?

There should be a preload on the actuator lever for the pump. With new parts that preload should accommodate the thicker gasket, though 3mm (.120 inch) seems a bit on the heavy side. When I put the new pump on my 383 two weeks ago it had more preload than that. Check the pressure to the carb, as long as it is about 7lbs, you're golden.

Agreed, and you probably don't require 7 psi. 3 psi is enough to keep the bowl full of fuel.
