Dealers didn't (don't) usually bring in high value, special option cars for new car inventory unless they are pretty sure of customer demand.

Still don't. One off's are hard to sell. Dealers now use a system called Easy Order which predicts the most ordered configuration versus the sales rate. It's for stupid Dealers who do not know their market well enough to order the right vehicles. Example never put a Brown interior in a Silver car as it will sit for months. I like to order Unicorns so when someone goes online and I have the only one. Unfortunately this order system tends to make all the Dealers inventory look alike.
