I have to say that I don't like them either. Most people don't have them aimed correctly for that type of bulb and on the country roads around here, the lights are blinding.... Then there's the assclowns that don't understand what the dimmer switch is for.
I used to run halogen Cibie headlights back when everyone else had conventional sealed beams. They had a lens on low beam designed to illuminate the right side and cutoff above hood level on the left to avoid blinding oncoming drivers. They were great except that you couldn't see deer coming from the left (a real issue around here, I've hit a couple) and overtaking a car on the 4 lane meant blinding lights in their mirrors. When the halogen sealed beams become popular, I went with those and haven't looked back.
One thing I have planned for the 300 is to install relays for the headlights.
