Well I'm being told now that pic is from a few years ago. Freelance motorsports jounilist I know. He's usually right. So sorry. Didn't intend to post inaccurate stuff

Better get the pumps out and dry-out the infield..
I'm gonna be there at Thanksgiving.

And yet people ***** about why anyone would live in Ca. with the Earthquakes and Fires. Clueless idiot dumbf*^%ks is all I can say about them!
And why is the press overly reporting about how bad Haiti was hit when we have our own problems here?

Been seeing a few pics going through facebook. Apparently part of the pier at the jax beach got ripped away too.

Heres a pic of A1A washed out by Flagler beach.

I've never been to CA... the opportunities that would make it work for me would involve moving to a more populated area, and I want a less populated one. My worst 11 mile commute has been about 45 min and I could reduce that via toll road if desired (too cheap for the ride home, do it when concerned with being on time). Non-peak traffic... 20-30 min.

I would like to visit someday...

If you are close to a body of water or in a flood plain, flood insurance and possible inconvenience is part of normal business... If you sit there and wait for it to come at you, foolishness. Storm surge is nothing to play around with, but if inland any well built structure should take 100mph+ winds. The openings should be covered if glass, or spend for the ballistic windows... the nice thing about these storms is unless you are in the eye path, the winds are pretty directional.

We sat on our back porch and watched the damage happen during Charley, not a drop of water and sustained 100mph at the MCO a couple miles away. Watched a Willow tree touch the ground 3-4 times before it snapped about a foot below ground. Charley knocked down every big Oak in the neighborhood and striped the pines of large branches except the for the ones that were protected by the trunk from the directional winds.

I have some pictures of 30+ foot root systems of Oak trees that grew in our sandy soils without a chance to hold on. We were on the right (strong side) of that storm. Matthew would have been big trouble if it made landfall and came up the middle of the state... inland wind damage and lots of coastal damage especially behind as opposed to in front of the storm.
