Hurricane Mathew pics

My brother inlaw is in the Fayetteville, NC area. They were first told that everything was OK and to stay at home. They are on high ground. That changed early evening last night when two dams broke near them and they were told to evacuate. There's no room at the shelters and all the hotels are full. With the flooding, they can't just drive out of it. They were also told they couldn't take their dog.

So far, we haven't heard where they landed. His wife is a RN at the VA hospital there, but was home at the time.

I'm not going to be surprised if they move back up north. His twin brother lives near us and they haven't stayed apart this long ever... This may drive him back up here.

We were in Virginia Beach until yesterday morning. The skies looked a little dark when we left, but that was it. The plan was to drive to Pennsylvania and spend the night in a hotel so we could visit my wife's mother today. There wasn't a hotel to be found anywhere.... Everything from Scranton south was booked and we found out that it was a lot of southern residents that were escaping the hurricane. We ended up driving home.

Why would (anyone) they care if you took your dog? I could see not in a shelter, or something similar, but if your just leaving the area?

I don't know how they were being evacuated. The roads are all flooded, so they can't drive.

We made it through the hurricane here in Port St. Lucie. We didn't lose power or satellite. Our neighbors don't have power. The big tree in our neighbors yard broke off and is now laying on our power lines. Major power lines sparks all night, they were very loud.

Sunny and clear skies today, the roof to the house is a bit torn up and has a couple of leaks but it isn't bad. The workshop has a few leaks too that will have to be fixed, all in all I got off lightly, the neighbor lost a fair bit of sheeting off his roof and has damage to his pool deck, plus a downed tree or two. I just have a messy yard to clean up, lots of green debris. The ground has surprisingly dried up already. Cars are safe!

News is reporting 11 dead in NC. Many in cars trying to get out after it was too late. Cars got stranded & they got out & swept away from racing water with floating debris. Watched several rescues on tv. It's a good thing these people get the training they do. Times like this it mattered.

National Guard soilders & EMT's in Fayetteville, NC helping an elderly woman to safety. The US Coast Guard save a dozen or so from the roof tops of their homes in the flooded town of Pinetops. And hearing countless stories of local police & firefighters (many of them volenteer) working 24 hours plus saving stranded people & some pets. BIG SHOUT OUT to all !

good to hear, though people are the most important thing, terrible we had more deaths than any other state. I made out well and lucky. just a leak in the garage due to poor driveway design and probably the original garage door seal. off work last few days so had time to dry it out. Marlene the cat made it fine too...

I didn't know you bought a C body. Cool
hey there, yeah, i had the 300 since last year. and always wanted a Fury (though prefer the hidden headlights) when i saw the green one that was one of a few known III converts with the optional "base" 440 I really went for that one. (with help from the CU again i hate to admit) not totaly crazy about the color, but hey, green is part of Mopar. how is your new place?
