I am a couple weeks behind on hanging up the icicle lights and if I didn't get them done this week my wife would have been really upset with me. Like I told Scott (Locumob) in his thread about his trip this summer, happy wife happy life.

I drug out the lights Sat morning and I had one string that only one half worked. I hung the lights on the side porch and then started on the front porch and ended up one strand short. I drove into town and no icicle lights in the length I needed (19ft). I would have to drive 18 miles to Wally World to get the one's I need.

I got a cup of coffee and the computer, opened google and searched how to repair icicle lights. I watched a couple of video's, got out my meter and 6 bulbs later I had a working strand. I finished hanging them and now one happy wife.

Lights on the side porch and front porch. YEAH!!!

Once you understand how the lights work, the repair was easy with the meter. I spent about 10 min on that strand.

My wife and I love Christmas lights. I've tried repairing strings. I either don't find a bad bulb or it's the last one I check. Its quicker for me to replace the string when a section goes out. I buy strings buy the case after Christmas so I have plenty on hand for the next season. I'm not over the top on decorating but our place can be seen from interstate 10 so I outline the fence (a little over a 1/4 mile) and house along with about 2000 lights alone in a 30' cedar tree. Between the tree getting taller and our new shop I need to find a used bucket truck to reach the tops.

We drive around each year checking out the lights home owners put up
This is the best inflatable display in my humble opinion
Apparently the neighbors aren’t impressed and demanded that it be dialed back
I left this town because of the over zealous by-law officers making up bogus laws on the fly so they got their way

    I thought this was awesome!

Like with cars, my tastes (as well as my brother's, whose "holy plastic family" is shown here) run towards vintage "expressions of the season."

I know what your saying about just replacing the bad string, but I didn't feel like going after a new set and I am good with a meter so I figured what's the worst that could happen.

It's that time of year again, the tree is up and lit (thank God).
A few more decorations inside and then my dreaded icicle lights. I fixed them last year so I hope when I pull them out they all work.

It's almost time for them to come down, but when I got home the other night there was a section of icicles out. I felt like the stupid things kicked me in junk.
