If you have no voltage limiter, it is missing in the photo as indicated in the photo. The fuel gauge shouldn't work. Did the fuel gauge work when you got it.

the fuel gauge works now and then too.

See post #19. Apparently the sentry signal was an option and some cars had it, although all cars had a "spot" to plug in an external voltage limiter.
I leaned about this too late unfortunately as I just purchased a new limiter, and it turns out I have the internal limiter that's part of the relay.
