Has anyone converted their column with the kits from Mancini Racing? I would prefer a nice originals but can't seem to find any available so I figured this could be a way to make use of what I already have. I am planning on floor shift in my 71 Brougham and 71 Monaco.

Here's links to the parts. One says 70, the other is for 71. Not sure what would be correct for a 71 C body with floor shift. I imagine the 71 collar?

They look like the correct ones for a standard column. They are way different on a Tilt and Tell column.

One has the lock release and the other does not.....
I do not remember '70 having that feature....

Whack the shifter mount off with a grinder and smooth it out with tiger hair or JB Weld.

The lock ring version is probably the correct one, but I always found those to be a pain in the ***, adding an extra step to get the key out. My only '71 console car has tilt, so I can't say for sure if the lock ring is correct on a C-body, but I'm sure that Steve would know the answer to that.

I have yet to see a '70 or '71 Dodge or Chrysler C body tilt/tele or standard with a key release. For the price, I would wait until you find a good used one (put up a wanted ad on this site) or various other ways. Or bigmoparjeffs advice. Anyone know what mopars would have the key release?

71 C bodies with console shift automatic transmissions did not have the sliding lock ring/lever. Get the non slider 1970 piece and it should work fine for your console conversion with the standard column.

Maybe C body buyers were considered more responsible than those who purchased the "lesser" models, therefore the lock ring was deemed not necessary.

Or, they just knew that they would sell so few console shift C Bodies in '71 that they were willing to take a chance and save some money.

Okay I found a nice tilt column with a Rimblow. I have a spare non tilt column that has been picked apart so I figured I would practice the conversion. Here is where we are at now. Having my father help me with this one because it's something small I can bring here to the house and he can mess with it while I am at the shop doing other jobs. You guys said the tilt collar is different but I don't see it...gonna find out the hard way I suppose...good thing this one is just practice. It'll just be a bonus if it works.

A long time Friend and his Son own the Machine Shop that supply all the steering columns for that Company. Just ah thought, Jer
