I was stuck at a birthday party in a bar last night watching the auction. There was no sound, so I was gazing at the cars go through, only able to see about half the description. (I'm a hoot at parties).

The Dick Landy car and Sox & Martin cars appear to all have sold for $200,000 a piece.
Seems really cheap for such iconic cars. Almost normal guy money.

Yea well I went back to my recording of it and it only spent a little over a minute on the block, I think the owner was there and pulled the plug quick, thus my comment I'll bet they got 50 grand in it and it could be a frankenpatch car.

    Looks can be deceiving...

The deal of the day one I posted earlier:
The (LOT.S128) 1965 Dodge Coronet was real slow as molasses's to start, down to $500.00 and when nobody bid the auctioneer suggested that he'd give you it for free or pay you to take it which I thought was hilarious! (wished I had recorded it)

The big Sox & Martins went for pretty respectable prices (200k.x2 & 390k) but most of the other drag cars with a NR went in the 100/200k range, museum pieces they are, and if you were to parade them the cost of getting them up and going would be pricey I'll bet. (plus insurance)

    Other surprising notes:
F269.1 1973 Plymouth Road Runner 340 SOLD 20K (odd stripe body color combo)

Funny comment by the cowboy hatted Auctioneer during a Licensed Elinor Tribute Car when it reached 90K, "SLAP THAT PONY"... LOL and I guess he was a little too excited as they had to roll the bid back to 82.5K

LOT90 IS THE FIRST L88 CORVETTE, Only 1967 Tuxedo Black convertible built rolled before the Petty Cars, bid was closed quickly IIRC as they wanted millions.

I've never seen so many Black Vettes in my lifetime, is this a *NEW* thing?

A black Vette RestoMod Vette (S93.1) CLOSE THE BID @ 200k -300k reserve rolled about 3/4 cars before the Petty Winged Bird. Cowboy Hat said "Only a third of the way there" :wideyed: Looking for 600k?

Thanks for all that info. I'm going to grab a rerun.
I just thought 200k for an original Hemi Cuda with the racing pedigree was cheap.( If it wasn't a tribute that is).
I may be remembering wrong, as I was about 2 1/2 White Claws deep.

Yea go back and watch it on YouTube as I say the *BIG* S & M cars right after the Petty cars were all original and I didn't pay all that much attention to the many drag cars that came after the Petty cars.

    Here's the most notable one:
The 1970 Plymouth HEMI Cuda (390k) was the only VIN'd (with historicial original title) off the assembly line car that Sox & Martin ever got from Chrysler.
All others from Chrysler were "Body in White", from Herb McCandless of Sox & Martin.
