Transmission didn't have a parking pawl back then. The parking brake worked pretty well, it had too!

In car you've never seen one, there's a small brake drum, about 8" in diameter on the back of the trans, the drive shaft bolted up to the back of it.
Oh, another funny thing on these transmissions... you could actually push start the car. The transmissions had a rear pump in them.
Plus there was a safety feature built in that if you moving over 10 mph, it would prevent you from shifting from forward to reverse by accident. Or vice versa.
Don't know how but I'm new to this thread. Kenny, Did yeah know most of the carz back then before the parking Sprag waz added to the 727 push button carz, Came from the factory with ah cute little "Black Wooden Chock Block" in every trunk? I'm surprised it took 'um 9 yearz to get the parking Sprag on the tail shaft inside the 727, and the year after that the push button's were gone? And I think the parking Sprag, the Band Brake, and the "trunion u-joint were all gone that year too.

Great stuff Will!
Picked this up at a swap meet a few years back, I bought it off the original owner’s son’s back.
