More Apocalypse news from Kalifornia republic of...

The last time I voted in CA. was 2012. The only initiative's I voted for that passed was a NO for porno's wearing condoms. Everything else was a fail, even weed which I also voted for!

If PB&G's power lines are dangerous they should budget money to fix the problem before the share holders are awarded dividends. Oh wait, that's too much common sense and not enough corporate greed. Nevermind :soapbox:

I'd blame it solely on the Gov, PG&E, and the lame *** State! What people fail to realize is that there is a contractual agreement as well as a fiduciary responsibility that PG&E is severely crossing the line with these actions, and for what? To cover their own *** of liability while putting the peoples lives at stake, REALLY? Who's going to pay for all that spoiled food of the people? Restaurant's, and other small business's that can't operate and have to throw out good food, who's going to pay for their failed revenue because of the State ineptness? How about those people with apnea that now can't use their CPAP which now put's their life in jeopardy? You people that live there really need to get your head outta your *** and wake up and GTFO of California yesterday!

please produce this contract of which you speak.

It apparent most of you don’t know or understand that utilities have a service level “rules of the road” guideline.

You should be able to find the document on your provide’s website or request a copy. This document outlines the rules of services YOU agree to when you apply for service.

I’m unaware of any location that, by code, requires anyone to take electric service. So, by requesting their electric or gas service, you are agreeing to follow their rules and regs. If you choose to not follow the guidelines, then disconnect.

Utilities, especially Investor owned, are highly regulated. Given the whims of the CA state government, the environmental groups, and “doo gooders” in general I cannot imagine how difficult and cumbersome providing service must be.

“They’ve failed to trim trees “. Yea, I can imagine how easy it would be to enact and execute a viable tree trimming/brush trimming program when the CA chapters of the Sierra Club, The Walden Club and the Save The Spotted Owl folks are up your *** all the time.

“They haven’t spent money on upgrading infrastructure.” I can only image the cost it takes to do business in CA to even meet environmental clean up/carbon taxes/etc. I can only imagine the costs it would take to upgrade transmission lines and distribution lines in some of the remote/forested/elevated areas.

The last electric bill I saw from CA showed $0.24/kWh. I truly doubt customers would be willing to pay the price for what the upgrades would cost.

If you are going to hold me liable for BILLIONS of dollars in damages for things I couldn’t reasonably prevent or fix, you’re damn right I’m going to cautious of what happens. If you say me putting electricity on my lines exposes me to further liability, you’re damn right I’m shutting it down. I’d. E stupid not to.

We do reap what we sow.

Your paying for a service! That service is to be provided 24/7/365, no questions asked. They shut off the power to cover their *** from liability issues from so called fires, and WHO SUFFERS from this because of their incompetents? YOU, THAT'S WHO! So they shut off your power for no reason but to cover their ***! Who's going to pay for your spoiled food? Do you run a business out of your home? Who's going to pay for that lost time and revenue from work? How about all those restaurant's that have to shut down, throw out food, lost wages, etc. You sir are the clueless one, I sure *** hell hope your not in CA. and if you are I hope your smart enough to get your *** out of that state.

I doubt the utility would be legally able to shut down the grid "to cover their asses" as it were. The regulatory agencies and probably the Governor would be obligated to sign off first. Best guess after last year's disaster an emergency plan was formulated to prevent another disaster from arcing transmission lines. The cheaper of two bad choices as it were. There will be a hue and cry and guess what, a rate increase will be proposed to upgrade the grid. Kalifornika wants to go "Carbon Free" and this is one of the ways that it will paid for, "rate payer be damned we know better". An in all probability, the same problems will still be there once the state is carbon free., since the money will probably get pissed down some green energy rat hole and not spent on upgrading the grid. Socialism at its finest lots of money spent, nothing works and no one is responsible except the rate payer for using too much power.

The two key issues here, tie their hands then blame them.
You asked for it, you got it.

I live in an area with locally (city) owned power but we are dependent on PGE to get our power here so we are still subject to these shutdowns.

Great plan for the state to blame the utility and then take control because they (PG&E) are incompetent. It won't matter the PG&E has been so hobbled by state regulations that it can no longer function. Again, right out of the Socialist play book.

I don’t know how they maintain transmission line right of way, but they clear cut them where I live and plant grass. They don’t just clear a tiny area around the towers, it’s a big area. We have forest fires in my area (not as bad as California). Never heard of it being the fault of the poco.

I can see why the power company did what the did. They got sued over massive property damage and about 40 some deaths. I read it was $15 billion. Seems they are damned no matter what they do.

absolutely right. There will be so many strings attached that the real work won’t get done. The money necessary to upgrade that system is incredible.

The problem is they take their shitty voting practices somewhere else and start the cycle all over again. They should stay and fight.

This statement is why our world is in the shape it is in due to corporations, big business, stock markets etc.....you always have to post a profit for the shareholders. And why the world will never be able to do what is necessary to stave off our inevitable destruction of the environment and the eventually decimation of the human species.

But PG&E is bankrupt so the stock holders aren't going to see ****.

Nobody sowed this but the crooks at pay up greed & evil. They haven’t spent anything in years and in some places over 100 years. It’s not too hard to insulate the power lines but it’s sure easy to do nothing. In the last few years they’ve blown up entire hunks of cities w gas and burnt people to ashes in power line wildfires. Their answer always seems to be oops sorry about that...

So now you have to accept the fact that you have to live where they can or will turn off your power for no legal reason whatsoever for any length of time. What's next, water? Oh wait, they already tried that! NO, that's completely unacceptable and anybody that does accept is a idiot!!
