My favorite Ford

Have you ever researched the facts about the one still existent original Bullitt example and how people hunted for it, found it hidden in a horse stable etc., the long time owner was not amused at all, he would like to keep a low profile and has turned down offers even by Steve McQueen's son and FoMoCo.

Hadn't heard that one but it sounds interesting. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find on the google.

Nice car. I would probably go for a 69/70 Torino GT.

You'll find some great info, the guy bought it as a student at a used car price from a secretary of the film studio in the early 70s IIRC. Like such stories about as much as an old Bogart movie. :)

So all the WW II Army H-D's still packed in Cosmoline and burried in a sand dune in France isn't true?

thats a Ford I like. Unfortunatly Mopar hasn t built those

For crying out loud. I am definitely a Mustang fan but that fastback is simply a Highland Green fastback. A not uncommon color back then. So nothing special there. A GT so once again nice but not at this price. This guy is simply trying to give the indirect impression this is a Bullitt car since it is clearly the same as in the movie. They just happened to get a green car for the movie as it could have been any color. Take McGarrett's 68 Marquis in black which was not offered in 1968. Ford promo. Note the black plates on back of the Mustang and Charger. Both far to early for 1968 at JJZ. Probably a 65 issue.

As to the one last Bullitt car it does exist as I mentioned it before from a 2005 article in Mustang Monthly.

It was quite some time ago I looked around for traces of the original Bullitt car, so I was hoping someone who knows better would come up with some links. It appeared to be very well established then, knowing that myths often arise with such cars.
Seems to be still in the hands of this owner.

I wasn't literally saying that that was the mustang that I would want. I just really like the 68 fastback, it's my favorite. What color would I want it in? I don't know...could I have gotten a silver over silver?

Actually, now that I think about it, any other car that was silver over silver would probably be a disappointment.
