Needing info on a '65 413

Just bought a 413 out of a '65 Imperial. The numbers on top are 42 A413 and a casting number is 2468030, induction is a Carter AFB, I see horsepower ratings at 340 and 360, what determines this? Compression? 10:0 to 10:1?
 
Others can probably add more insight, but from what I've been able to determine, the main difference between the 340/360 hp version was the cam. The 360 version was used in the 300L, and some of the hi-po C-bodies in Canada (Monaco, for one). I'm pretty sure, if it came out of an Imp, it's the 340 hp. By 1965, just about all of the 413s were hooked up to 2.76 rear ends, and put into NY, wagons, etc. No more Max Wedge and crossrams . . .
 
340 is single exhaust. 360 is dual exhaust. Imperial could have either single or dual exhaust. 300L would be dual exhaust.

That how I remember it from "back then", but in looking in both the '65 Chrysler parts book and service manual, there seems to be some information that does not match what the 1965 Petersen Publications Engine Annual had in it (specs generated for all produciton engines that year, as reported to the SAE).

The one thing which seems to "match" is that the 413/360 and 426Wedge have the same cam. Service manual specs are 268/268/.430" lift.

383 2bbl and 4bbl are the same cam, 252/252/.389" lift
413/340 shows something I hadn't seen before 256/260/.430" lift (which is almost identical to the '66 440/350 and later "Standard Cam" 4bbl designation. Might need to do some more digging . . .

be aware that putting dual exhaust on a 340 single exhaust motor doesnt make it 360 hp.
the hp back then was rated gross, with out exh and other stuff attached.
thats why a 65 imperial convert with dual exh is still 340 hp (64, 65, & 66 imp converts had dual exh, 2 & 4drs had single)
the 360 hp motor had upgrades over the 340 that made it more powerful

The 360 hp camshaft was a .444 intake lift/.450 exhaust lift. The 340 hp engine was a .430 intake lift/.430 exhaust lift.

So on that camshaft chart what do the letter and numbers mean. Are they stamped on the cam or part of the engine number or?
 
They are vehicle model designatins. Remove the first letter and use the remaining letter and number. C1=Chrysler Newport, C2=300, C3=New Yorkwe, Y1=Imperial. "300K" would be the 300 Letter Car model with the 413/360 motor (as noted by the asterisk decode at the bottom of the page). The "P" and "D" versions would be for Plymouths and Dodges, respectively, with the number progression being from lowest-line model to the highest/fanciest model. The "R" and "W" would be what we now term "B-body" vehicles.

It can be a little confusing, compared to the newer books and more direct model designations. The "426" listed is the 426Wedge motor, not the 426 Street Hemi.

That's crazy to think they used that many different camshafts in the same engines. I'm thinking that Imperial was a pretty mild stick. I do want to wake it up a bit, mild stick, dual plane and a pair of tubes. Its going in this.
