New to me 78 NYB on its way but please Don't tell my wife

Also alignment check.... camber off but all joints still look good. Adjustment made.

Car got pulled off the line waiting for another so we put time to good use.

All lines look and feel straight.

color is correct RA2 but metal flake concentration match took a few tries. Metallics are a *****. The bottom one is spot on.

This is how far we need to “bend” it.

About 1/4” at the ends. Both side about the same to get it all to line up a bit better than factory.

Frontal view shows it very clearly by laying a 3x3 steel angle across the top of the bumper.

As hard as it is to take a NYB front bumper on and off......mine is staying in place!!!!

Bumper fun continues.... drawings

sorry for the typos.... was in a bit of a hurry today and wanted to give this to Ivan.

Paint is scheduled for Wednesday.... we’ll see.

decided to do this with the shell back on as it was difficult to pull the front shell off with the bumper on and remaining studs in place.

I knew there would be cutting involved.... can't wait to see the result. Fingers crossed for us!

GM would have made the bumper in parts..... I guess it was cheaper to to do into one huge stamping. But if it had been in parts, this would never have been a problem.

Try doing it by yourself...

Been there.... Done THAT!!! Yankee ingenuity... Lowered the car when it was on my lift to the point where it just touched my Blue Point roll cart, that I strategically placed under the bumper, unbolted it and raised the lift. Done... Reverse to put it back on. Royal pain getting it off and on the cart though!!!! But I managed. Be careful putting the "rubber" filler pieces on. They are the biggest pain of the job!
