Shouldn't the air cleaner say 440 Magnum? instead of Super Commando?

1967 Dodge Monaco 500 Coupe - $18,500 - Orlando, Florida

CL Description

You don't see any like this 1967 Dodge Monaco 500 anymore. This is all original 84,000 miles, painted in Dark Turquoise with white leather interior. The vinyl top is brand new and is the original color. No rust anywhere, previously an Oklahoma car. The trunk has been repainted to the original spatter paint color. Has a very strong 440 Super Commando engine, one of the most desirable engines at that time. Everything works on it and is ready to enjoy. Definite must-have for any Mopar collector. Dont miss out on this one, you probably will never see another one.

Lot 45G – 1967 Dodge Monaco 500 2dr HT | VanderBrink Auctions

I think this is the car from the Jim Gesswein collection..the listing said that it also had 440 "super commando" (that's what stuck out to me) but had a black vinyl top, but this seller mentions that this vinyl top is brand new...so they swapped it for a white one?

According to the auction results...it sold for - $8,925.00...

Nice car, but hate the tailpipes, easy fix. The repaint of the trunk seems suspicious. Price seems pretty high to me.

looks good, exhaust sucks. Weren’t all 1967 trunks body color? Last year of spatter paint was 1966. And that’s model year not production date.

who added the 1968 side markers?

Yeah, I'll bet my left cheek that up close this thing is a pig with a whole lot of lipstick on ... likely applied with a floor mop. Note (among other things) the Dark Turquoise paint job right over the trunk seal. I'd be glad to take his bumpers and tailights however.

who added the 1968 side markers?
Good question. I recall reading somewhere that the side marker regulation came into effect at the start of 68. As a result I'm wondering if some late 67s also came off the production line with them.

What about the wiring harness For side marker lamps on a 67? They are not on the diagram. They didn’t come from the factory on 1967’s.

I cringe at reading this stuff on the internet. Words have power and people start believing it just because the read it.

Did you ever Work at a car dealership or factory? Just amazing how we didn’t see that stuff until the first car arrived for the next model year. Just like they new what the were doing. LOL

Yours is a beautiful car. This circled bracket is backwards on your car, it needs to go between the head and PS pump so flip it over.

So dealer installed maybe? Seems like a lot of needless effort to retrofit by a subsequent owner.
A lot of folks that felt that the side markers were a matter of safety, had their older cars converted. I've seen the 68 lights done to many pre-68 Mopars...always looks wrong. That said, this could be seen as a "day two" mod.

On the other hand, I've seen the 68 lights used on later 70's cars to replace the giant light/ reflectors and it can add a cool custom look, if done well.
