Now that I have removed them, I need to get the side brackets that the stub frame attaches to off the body so i can more easily repair them..
There is what i believe to be clips that look like they are holding the bottom of the bracket on still.

Has anyone removed these before?
Have a look!

I don't know about the bolts but those pictures are really scary. Glad the undersides of all my cars are clean as typical of low rain California cars.

I think we all hope for a perfect car but here in Canada that comes with a high $$$ attached to that kind of car. It's a Canadian fact of life. Toys are more expensive here.

Unfortunately some cars like mine have some cancer and need rescuing...
This is one of those cars.

If it isn't fixed now, then it may return to the earth in a few years plus it is giving me some challenging things to do during the winter months!

It's never going to be the show queen it once was in the past but it can certainly be a fun driver for the family :)

So off I go repairing the rust as best as possible and preserving what i can.

If anyone has some ideas, let me know, I want to avoid cutting the base of the brackets where the clips/retainers are if possible.

My hat is off to you my friend! We need to save and preserve as many of these cars as we can. Does your service manual give you any direction?

My manual doesnt...
is there an online version somewhere?

If you have the FSM for your car you won't do better than that. Hopefully somebody chimes in with the answer.

Are those not spot welded on?

This may indeed be the case.

I found an online source and it shows a gerneal area of the part but does not discuss this member
I may need to nip it off and then make up a couple of new ones.

I agree with them being spot welded on. You probably will have to cut them off to get that piece out. Are those small brackets the only thing holding those pieces in?

I'm not sure. they have been soaking over night after I hit them with PB Spot weld remover solution(I wish), I'm hoping that they will fall out on their own and I can remove the brackets with a tooh pick!! :laughing4:

So that's a cross section of the inner rocker panel, eh?
I love learning from the blood, sweat, and tears of others

There was an ad for a shop that sold "replacement frame rails" They went over existing frame rail and tack welded to existing rails. They were reasonable. Also old, like me!

Google "auto frame rail replacement" and see what pops up. Looked a lot easier to do than what you're doing!

checked this out before, they only do B, D or E bodies.

The poor old C- bodies are left to our own devices..

I did measure up for the b body but they are really long compared to the originals.

Several years ago they did some work on my 69 Sport Fury Vert and they said that they were in the process of making stuff for C-Bodies. I had told the owner Jerry use my C-Body as a prototype. He has a lot of nice Mopars at his shop along with a Blues Brothers Cruiser and a kick *** charger.
